Vent: Been using a chain checker wrong for 5 years straight
Watched a Park Tool video last night on chain wear measurement. Turns out you're supposed to push the tool into the chain, not just drop it on top. I've been reading the gap wrong on every single bike I've worked on. Probably replaced a bunch of chains that still had life left. Anyone else make this mistake early on?

Honestly, I did the exact same thing for like two years before I saw a GCN video. I had this old Park Tool chain checker I'd just lay on top of the chain, squint at it, and go "yep, that's toast." Replaced the chain on my buddy's '90s Marin when it probably had two or three thousand miles left. Felt like such a goof when I found out you gotta actually push the pin into the roller. Five years though, that's dedication to being wrong, I respect that.
