Serious question, I tried to time my morning commute for a week and the results were all over the place.
I logged my drive to the office in Cincinnati for five days, expecting a 25 minute average, but it ranged from 18 to 47 minutes because of a single train crossing on Tuesday, so how do you actually plan for a routine when one random thing can wreck it?

Serious question? Come on... it's a train crossing, not a meteor strike. You just build in a buffer. If your best time is 18 minutes, you don't leave for an 18 minute trip. You leave for the 47 minute one, and then you're early most days. That's the routine.

My buffer plan fell apart when a parade of geese decided to cross the road. Took them twenty minutes.
