Blew $60 on a fancy water pitcher filter that barely worked
I bought one of those expensive water filter pitchers with the digital counter on top, thinking it'd save me from buying bottles. After two weeks the filter started clogging and the water came out slower than molasses... anyone else get burned by a trendy kitchen gadget?

Oh man, I feel your pain. I got that same brand with the little screen that counts down the filter life, and after about a month the water was basically dripping out. I ended up having to replace the filter way earlier than it said, which kinda defeats the whole point. Did you try soaking the filter or running a bunch of water through it? That sometimes helps for a day or two.

Yeah, I dealt with the same thing on that brand. "the water was basically dripping out" is exactly what happened to me. I found that if you let the filter sit in water for a good 30 minutes before using it, that helps a bit. Also, you have to make sure you're not pushing the filter in too tight. If it's jammed in there, the water has a harder time getting through. I also started rinsing the filter under cold tap water once a week to clear out any gunk. It's a pain, but at least I got a few more weeks out of it before it went back to being useless.
