Am I the only one who thinks the 4:45am gym crowd is just showing off?
Everyone keeps saying the early morning workout is the secret to a good routine, but when I switched from evenings to 5am for 3 months at the gym on Cedar Street, I just got worse sleep and worse lifts. My bench dropped from 185 to 165 and I was useless by 2pm every day. Turns out I was trading real recovery for the feeling of being done early, which is not the same thing as progress. Curious if anyone else went back to evenings and stopped apologizing for it.
Loving the 5am hype is easy when you're a morning person, but for the rest of us it's just sleep debt with extra steps. Getting up at 4:45 means lights out by 9 which basically kills your whole evening, and if your bench dropped 20 pounds that's your body telling you the truth. Sounds like evenings were never the problem, you just got sold a story about what a real routine looks like.
