I was set in my ways with BBQ fuel until last week
I used any wood I could find for my smoker, not thinking about the impact. Then I saw a show on how cutting trees for charcoal hurts forests, and it changed my view. What about you, ever switch things up for the earth?

Yeah, that show about forests hit me too. I switched to wood pellets last season, they seem to burn cleaner and use sawdust that would get tossed anyway. Made a real difference in how much wood I go through.

Appreciate you sharing that, @ericprice. Smart move switching to pellets since it makes sense after seeing what that show said about forests.

Read an article that basically said the same thing as that show (it was in some home magazine at the dentist, of all places). It really stuck with me how much regular firewood harvesting can mess with wooded areas over time. The pellet thing seems like a good middle ground, since it uses wood waste. Makes the whole heating process way more efficient, which is the whole point.
