Serious question, why does everyone at the flea market think old cast iron is worth $80 just because it says Wagner?
I was at the Tri-State Flea Market in Fairmont last Saturday and counted four different sellers asking $75 to $90 for rusty Wagner skillets with pitted cooking surfaces. What people keep getting wrong is that the brand name means nothing if the pan is warped or the seasoning is flaking off, because you can't fix a spin on a flat top no matter how many hours you scrub it. I know this because I bought a $90 Griswold two summers ago that wobbled, then found a no name pan for $12 at a garage sale in Bridgeport that sits perfectly flat and cooks eggs better. Check the bottom with a straightedge, check for cracks by the handle, and skip anything asking over $40 unless it's a rare size. Has anyone else noticed sellers pricing rusty junk like it's already restored?
