Walked into a shop in Portland that had a full wall of vintage straight razors on display, but not a single one looked like it had ever been honed.

Guess they're just for looking at.

Used to think like victor_jones99, that they were just decor. Then I got a rusty one from a flea market. Cleaned it up, learned to hone it on a cheap stone. The first time it shaved my arm hair clean off, I got it. A tool wants to be used. Now that wall just seems sad, like a zoo for wild things. What's the point of a razor that can't cut?

Honestly the "shaved my arm hair clean off" part got me. Tbh I never even thought about testing one like that. Now I'm looking at my grandpa's old razor in a drawer totally different. It's just sitting there doing nothing. That zoo line really hits hard, like we're keeping something wild in a cage for no good reason.
