Straight razor vs shavette, I switched back after 8 years and here is why
I know everyone in this sub loves the featherweight feel of a shavette. I used one from 2015 to 2023, thought it was the future. But last March I picked up an old-school straight razor at a flea market in Austin for $60 and got it honed. Three months in and my clients with sensitive skin are coming back to me specifically. The weight and the angle force me to slow down. Shavettes are sharp, sure, but they punish any tiny mistake. The straight razor gives me feedback through my fingers before I even cut. Is anyone else going back to the older tool, or am I the only one who feels the shavette is too unforgiving for daily neck work?

Wait, are you saying shavettes actually cause more razor burn on black skin? I've noticed that too.
