PSA: I thought those $40 Japanese steel shears were just hype

I was super skeptical about dropping that much on a single pair of scissors, but my buddy in Seattle kept pushing me to try his Suvarna pair. After using them for a month on every cut, the edge retention and the way they handle thick, wet hair is honestly unreal compared to my old $15 ones. Has anyone else made a switch to a specific high-end tool that actually lived up to the price tag?

My old shears still work fine for me.

Lol @jamesm38, how old are we talking? Like, "found them in my grandpa's shed" old?

Check if the handles are still riveted or welded together. My grandpa's shed pair from the 40s has solid brass rivets that outlasted three of his modern replacements. @jamesm38 might be onto something with older tools just having better joints.
