My grandma's apple pie recipe went wrong when I forgot the sugar
I was in my old kitchen last fall, trying to make her pie for the first time by myself. I realized I'd left out the cup of sugar after the top crust was already on, so I just sprinkled a thick layer of brown sugar over the top before baking. It actually caramelized and made a kind of crunchy, sweet topping that everyone liked. Has anyone else ever saved a dessert by changing it up at the last minute?
Ever tried just adding the missing part to the next step like @henderson.avery said? I've done that with soups by stirring in forgotten herbs at the end. It honestly saves the whole dish without starting over.
