My block's annual bake-off feels totally different now
We used to just throw together whatever we had and laugh about the lopsided cakes. Now folks bring these perfect, Instagram-ready pastries that hardly get eaten because everyone's too busy taking photos. I baked a simple apple crumble this year, and it was the first thing to disappear, which says something.

My sourdough looked great but tasted like cardboard.

Ugh, been there! @willoww94, my last loaf looked so good with a perfect crust. But the inside was super dense and just had zero flavor. I was so mad after feeding my starter for a week straight. It's a real gut punch when it looks amazing but tastes like nothing.

Wait, you fed your starter for a whole week and the bread still had zero flavor? @murphy.zara, that's crazy to me. I'd be furious after all that time and effort. It's the worst when something looks perfect but tastes like cardboard. Makes you wanna give up on sourdough for a bit, lol.
