PSA: I heard my old roommate say she was building a fort in the living room out of our clean laundry
I was in the hallway two months ago and heard her tell a friend on speaker that the pile of our clothes on the couch was a "fort." That pile had been sitting there for 11 days because she never finished a single load. I moved out of the place on Maple Street that same month. Now I ask new roommates one thing before signing anything: how long does your clean laundry sit in a basket? Anyone got a better screening question, because mine still feels weak?
Feel for you on this one, that living room fort thing would have sent me over the edge. Eleven days is wild, at that point those clothes aren't even clean anymore, they're just couch decor. My old roommate used to leave hers so long I swear a spider moved in and started a family in the basket. Your screening question is actually solid, but you could add, "when the basket is full, do you do a load or buy more underwear?" That one tells you a lot. Good luck out there, you earned the right to be picky.
