My old roommate in Toledo left a pan of grease on the stove for 9 days and I want to know if I handled it right
I lived with a guy named Dave in a two bedroom on Monroe Street in Toledo for about a year and a half. Around month ten he cooked bacon at 1 am and left the full pan of grease sitting on the burner, and it stayed there for 9 days. I kept waiting for him to deal with it, and by day 6 the whole kitchen smelled like a diner dumpster. I finally put the pan in his bed, which I admit was petty. He got mad but the pan was gone by that night. Has anyone else hit a point where a normal conversation just would not work anymore?
Putting a pan of grease in someone's bed is a bold move, but after 9 days I can't say I blame you. A normal conversation only works when the other person is actually listening, and Dave clearly wasn't. Sometimes the message has to be a little weird to get through.
Nine days though. That is a full week plus two extra days of Dave just not getting it, which is honestly impressive in its own sad way. A pan of grease is gross but it does send a message nobody can ignore, unlike whatever you were saying before that went in one ear and out the other. Maybe next time skip straight to the weird stuff on day two and save yourself the week of being nice.
