That $30 'universal' phone mount broke my vent clip in 3 days

I saw this slick looking phone mount at a gas station off I-75 last week. Guy said it fit every car. Looked solid with all these arms and grips. I dropped $30 on it thinking finally I won't have to buy another one. Got home and it clamped onto my vent but the clip was made of this soft plastic. First bump on the highway it twisted and snapped one of my vent fins clean off. Now I gotta call the dealership to see how much a replacement vent costs. Probably more than the stupid mount. Anyone else had a mount wreck their dashboard parts?

Man that sucks but is it really that big of a deal? Vents are cheap and easy to replace if you can find the part on eBay.

Yeah but not everyone wants to go hunting down some random part on eBay and hope it fits right. It's still a hassle even if it's technically doable.
