My $45 hoop house paid for itself in one frosty week

I threw it together with PVC and plastic sheeting after losing a whole lettuce crop last spring, and this fall it saved my spinach through three nights in the 20s. Anyone else found the cheap DIY row covers actually work better than the fancy store kits?

Heard some old-timer swear by milk jugs as mini greenhouses, worked like a charm for them.
