That time I waved back at someone who wasn't waving at me in the Target parking lot last Saturday

I was walking to my truck and saw this guy waving so I gave him a big friendly wave back but he was actually just swatting a bee away from his face and I had to just pretend I was stretching my arm for the next 10 seconds like an idiot, has anyone else ever done that and then immediately wanted to vanish?

Swatting a bee away is basically waving at yourself, not at someone else.

@mila_harris that's honestly a great way to put it. It hits on something bigger though, like how we spend so much time reacting to tiny annoyances that don't actually affect us. We wave at bees that are just passing through, then we get mad at ourselves for being bothered. It kind of reminds me of how people get worked up over small stuff online, like a typo or a different opinion, when the other person doesn't even care. You end up just making noise for yourself instead of actually dealing with anything real. Do you see that pattern too in other parts of life?
