Rant: I said 'you too' to a waiter who told me happy birthday for 6 years
Went to a diner in Boise with my cousin on my birthday, and when the waiter said 'happy birthday' I said 'you too' without even thinking. He just stared at me for 3 seconds then walked off, and my cousin almost choked on his water. That night I realized I've been saying 'you too' to cashiers, doctors, and a guy who told me his mom died, all because my mouth moves before my brain. Now I just say 'thanks' but I still panic every single time. Does anyone else have a reflex response that keeps stabbing them in the foot?
