Paint match gamble on a pearl white Civic in Phoenix

I had to choose between the dealer's $600 paint code or a local mix shop's $180 match on a pearl white Civic, went with the local mix because the owner swore he nailed it, and after two test cards and a blend it came out so clean the customer asked if we repainted the whole car, so what do you all use when a code never quite matches under sunlight?
