Chose a 3M purple disc over a Norton blaze for heavy paint removal

Had a 79 Firebird come in last week with like 5 layers of old paint. Grabbed my usual Norton Blaze but it was gumming up after 2 panels. Switched to a 3M Purple Clean Sanding disc at 80 grit and that thing ripped through the rest of the car without loading up once. Cost me an extra $2 per disc but saved me a full afternoon. Anyone else find the 3M holds up better on stubborn jobs?

I mean, my paint removal skills are about as smooth as that Norton Blaze after two panels.

Haha, yes, that is exactly how it goes. The first panel always looks so promising, and then by the second one you're wondering if you even know how to hold a scraper. I did a whole dresser last spring and by the end I was just using the edge of my fingernail on the little stubborn spots because I was so tired of the stripper fumes. It's amazing how much patience a project like that takes away from you. But there is something satisfying about finally getting that gunk off, even if the process makes you want to throw the whole thing out the window.
