A painter in Phoenix told me I was spraying too close, and my orange peel cleared up in a week
I was holding the gun about 6 inches off the panel and he said get back to 10 or 12. Cut my trash rate on a Civic bumper from 3 tries down to 1, has anyone else changed gun distance and seen that big a jump?

Read a forum thread a while back where an old body guy said distance matters more than air pressure for orange peel. He ran his at like 10 to 12 inches too and swore the paint had time to lay down flat before it dried. At 6 inches you're basically blasting it on wet and it flashes too fast, that's where the texture comes from. Bumping mine back a couple inches helped a ton on small parts like bumpers. Going from 3 tries to 1 is a huge win, that junk adds up fast.
