A customer pointed out my clear coat blend was too wide

Last month, a guy brought back his Ford Ranger because he said the repair edge looked hazy from a side angle. He was right, I was blending almost 18 inches out. I started using a narrower tape line and a slower overlap pass. Now my blends are about 8 inches and the transition is way cleaner. Anyone else adjust their blend technique after a customer call out?

Eighteen inches is a whole lot of real estate to be blending. I think I used a spread that wide once, but I was also trying to paint the neighbor's fence by accident. Good on you for tightening it up, that's a huge difference.

Honestly, I've found a wider spread works better for me on big walls. Gives the paint more time to blend before it dries.

Oh man, that reminds me of the time I was staining a deck and got so into the rhythm I did a solid three feet onto the concrete patio before I even noticed. Had to rent a power washer the next day, which was a whole other mess.
