That one guy on CloudyNights told me to ditch my intervalometer and I'm still mad about it
Some user named AstroSteve42 kept commenting on my Orion nebula shots saying my star trailing was from a cheap intervalometer, not polar alignment. I spent $80 on a better one and my 3 minute exposures still look like blurry messes. Has anyone else gotten confident advice that just made things worse?

Wait, what kind of mount were you using? Because if your polar alignment is off by even a tiny bit, no intervalometer in the world will fix that. I learned that the hard way when I spent two weeks chasing trails on my HEQ5 before someone told me I was aiming at Polaris wrong. Did you check your drift alignment at all before swapping gear?
