My new camera mount fought me for two whole nights

I got a fancy equatorial mount for my backyard in Phoenix, the kind that tracks the stars. The setup guide said it would take an hour. First night, I spent three hours just trying to get the polar alignment right, my phone battery died twice. Second night, I realized the counterweight bar was on backwards the whole time, another two hours gone. Has anyone else had a mount that just would not cooperate at first?

My dad always says the first project with a new tool is just learning how it fights you. I spent a whole Saturday assembling a simple bookshelf because the instructions had the wrong diagram for the shelf pins. It feels like a universal rule that anything with more than three parts comes with a hidden time tax.

I built that exact same bookshelf last month, @jamesm38. The diagram was so wrong I almost put the back panel on the front.
