Lesson learned at Cherry Springs - don't trust your phone for astrophotography
I was out at Cherry Springs State Park last month for the Perseids. Had my DSLR on a tripod, taking 30 second exposures. Around midnight, my phone died - no big deal, I thought. But I had been using it as my intervalometer through an app. Turns out the app reset the exposure settings when the Bluetooth dropped. I got home and found 80% of my shots were blurry trash because the shutter speed changed without warning. Now I always carry a wired remote as a backup. Has anyone else had their phone mess up their long exposure work?

Wait wait, the APP actually changed your settings on its own? That's insane. I would have lost my mind if I came home to 80% blurry frames. Hard lesson learned right there.

@morgan_bailey93 I used to think people were overreacting about these apps but now I get it. My phone updated overnight once and turned on some auto-enhance setting that RUINED a bunch of shots from a family gathering. Never ignore the little settings changes, they add up REAL fast.
