My neighbor asked me why I always search for 'how to' videos instead of just asking people
I was telling my neighbor, Frank, about trying to fix my sprinkler timer last weekend and how I watched like 7 YouTube tutorials. He just said, 'Why didn't you just ask me? I've had the same model for 5 years.' It made me realize I default to searching online for everything, even when help is right next door. Has anyone else found they skip asking real people first?

My buddy tried to ask his uncle about car stuff once... got a two hour story about carburetors in the 70s. He just wanted to know why his check engine light was on.

Frank's got a point, but asking a neighbor can turn into a whole social thing. Sometimes you just want the answer without the small talk. Videos let you skip ahead and rewind, which is perfect for technical stuff.

You know, I used to always ask people first. But you're right about skipping the small talk. Sometimes I just need to fix the thing without hearing about their grandkids.
