Just realized I was asking the wrong type of questions in my forum posts

My posts used to get maybe one reply, if any. I switched from asking broad stuff like 'what's good?' to specific things like 'how do I fix a leaky faucet in a 1970s apartment?'. Started doing that about three weeks ago. Now I get five or six helpful answers every time. It's all about giving people a clear problem to solve. Anyone else find that super specific questions work way better here?

Yeah, it's the puzzle thing for sure. @taraanderson, I'd argue it's less about people loving puzzles and more about them knowing if they can actually help.

Funny how specific questions work better, right? My neighbor asked for moving help and got nothing, but "who can lift a couch on Tuesday" filled her driveway. Guess we all just want to know the exact job.

Honestly, you mentioning the switch from "what's good" to the 1970s faucet question really hit home. I used to think being open-ended got more ideas, but it just got me ignored. Tbh, last month I asked for "easy dinner ideas" and got crickets. Then I posted "need a 30 minute chicken recipe with only a skillet" and my inbox blew up. You're totally right, people just love a clear puzzle to solve.
