My neighbor's kid offered to mow my lawn for $40, I said no and bought a robot mower instead

The kid is nice but I saw him do a patchy job across the street. I dropped $800 on a basic Robomow model last month. It runs twice a week and the lines are perfect, zero effort from me. Anyone else go the robot route and have tips for keeping it off the flower beds?

My old Husqvarna kept trying to mow my hostas until I sunk the wire like five inches down in a few tricky spots. The manual said two inches, but that was not enough for my yard. I also put down some of those plastic lawn staples every foot or so to really pin the wire in place. It has not crossed the line once since I did that last spring.

Just bury the boundary wire a couple inches deep around your beds, that's what finally kept mine from taking out the petunias.

Yeah, burying the wire a couple inches deep is the key move. I read a whole forum thread where @jamesm38's method kept coming up as the fix. It really does stop those mowers from making a mess of the flower beds.
