PSA: The site's digital mapping software just ate my whole trench grid
I was finally getting the layers logged into the system when the program froze and reset, wiping all my points from this morning. The tech support guy said it happens if you click 'save' too fast, which makes no sense at all. Now I have to re-survey everything before the backfill crew shows up tomorrow. Why does the fanciest gear always have the dumbest bugs?

Heard a buddy of mine lost a whole week's worth of elevation data like that. His tablet just died mid-sync and the file corrupted beyond repair. The worst part was the boss refused to believe it wasn't his fault for not making backups. He had to work two straight weekends with a total station to redo it all. These expensive systems feel so fragile sometimes. Makes you want to just go back to a pencil and paper grid sometimes.

Man, @dixon.grant, that's brutal! It reminds me of when my old car's computer just wiped the radio presets and clock for no reason. You'd think something that costs so much would be more solid. Your buddy's boss sounds awful for not trusting him, that's the real problem right there. Fancy tech failing is one thing, but adding blame on top just makes everything worse. I'd be fuming if I had to give up two weekends because of a dead battery.

Lost an entire day's worth of feature drawings once because the sync just failed. Tech support told me I must have turned off the wifi, which I never did. Makes you miss paper forms that don't just vanish.
