PSA: A museum curator told me my site photos were useless, and she was right.

I was showing my dig photos from a site in New Mexico to a curator at the state museum, and she flat out said, 'Without a scale bar, these are just pretty pictures.' I was kind of mad at first, but she was totally right. Now I never take a single artifact photo without putting my little folding scale ruler in the shot first. It's a tiny change that makes the data actually useful. Anyone else get called out on a basic field habit they had to fix?

Yeah, and the tools they used too.

Heard a similar story from a photographer documenting old barns.

Richard_anderson's photographer story makes me wonder about the people who built those barns. We focus on the buildings but forget the hands that made them. Their stories are probably the most interesting part.
