Question about the worst service call you've ever walked into

Last Thursday I got a call for a fridge not cooling, and the kitchen floor was covered in about an inch of water from a clogged defrost drain. The homeowner just said 'it's a bit damp' when I booked it. What's the biggest gap between a customer's description and the mess you actually found?

Heard one about a "small leak" and a flooded basement.

Remember when you'd just let a drip under the sink go for weeks? Used to be my move. Then my water heater had a tiny weep at the valve. Figured it was nothing. Two months later, the floor joists were soft and the repair bill was huge. That "small leak" talk hits different now.

Got a call for a "squeaky floor" last month. The subfloor was a sponge and the joist was gone, just a hole full of carpenter ants. They called it a squeak.
