It kills me to see good appliances trashed over minor faults
Just had a job where a dishwasher only had a broken door latch. Everything else worked perfectly. The customer decided to replace it instead of fixing it. Now that machine is waste. This is so common with today's appliances. They get tossed for the smallest issues. We're creating tons of unnecessary trash. Something has to change in how we value repairs.

Sometimes it's not about the fix, it's about the math. A service call alone can cost more than a new basic model. My time has value too, and waiting for parts or dealing with a repair person is a hassle. For a lot of people, the peace of mind with a new warranty just wins out, even if the old thing could technically be saved.

Watched my buddy toss a fridge the other day because the door seal was loose. Thing just needed a five dollar part and two minutes to click it back in.

That's just wild to me. He threw out a whole fridge over a door seal? My grandma's fridge had a broken seal for like ten years, we just shoved a towel in the gap. The amount of perfectly good stuff that gets trashed over tiny fixes is crazy. Feels like no one even tries to fix things anymore, they just buy new. What a waste.
