The anime convention panel that made me believe in dubs again

Went to Anime NYC last month and sat in on a panel about English dubs, mostly because my friend dragged me there. The director talked about how they record lines with the actors all in the same room now, not separately like the old days. That simple change makes the conversations sound way more natural, I never thought about that before. They also showed a side by side clip of a scene from 2005 versus a newer show, the difference in acting quality was huge. I used to be a sub only person, but now I'm actually checking out dubs for new releases. Has anyone else had their opinion flipped by seeing how the recording process works behind the scenes?

My buddy Mike swore off dubs for a decade, then watched one recording and bought the Blu-ray on the spot.
