PSA: I keep seeing folks call the 'Monogatari' series a harem anime, and it's just not that simple.

I mean, it's a show about a guy surrounded by girls who are into him. That's the harem playbook right there. Maybe it's just a fancy one.

Wait, surrounded by girls who are into him? Did we watch the same show? Hanekawa spends most of it friend-zoning him hard, and Senjogahara would actually murder any other girl who got close. That's not a harem, that's a guy with one scary girlfriend and a bunch of messed-up friends.
