Hit 500 anime episodes logged and my whole rating system broke
I use MAL to track my backlog and at 498 I thought I had my taste figured out. But episode 500 was some random isekai I almost skipped and it made me realize my 1-10 scale was too soft on stuff I watched years ago. Has anyone re-scored their old lists after a big milestone like this?
Rewatched a few of my old favorites last year and it honestly changed how I look at my whole list. I used to hand out 8s and 9s like candy back in high school, mostly because I had not seen enough shows to know what good really looked like. Now when I go back and check those same titles, a lot of them sit around a 6 or 7 at best. The shows did not get worse, I just grew up and my taste got sharper. It stings a little to knock down something you loved, but keeping a fake score does not help you or anybody reading your list. I finally sat down and redid about a hundred entries, and my list actually means something to me now.
