Shoutout to the kitten that made a mockery of early motion detectors
Years back, I was putting in a basic motion system at a place with a bunch of cats. During the final walkthrough, one little cat set off every single sensor, filling the house with noise. The homeowner just shook their head, and I had to say the old gear could not tell pets from people. Now we have sensors that ignore pets, and jobs go way smoother. Thinking about that day always gives me a laugh at how things have changed.

My buddy installed one of those old motion-activated porch lights for his grandma. Her tiny ferret would zip across the lawn at night and the thing would blast on like a spotlight. She'd call him every time, convinced someone was lurking. He finally told her the sensor just really hated the pet. That light went off more times for that ferret than for actual people.

Did that ferret ever figure out the pattern and start setting it off on purpose? Some pets get a kick out of triggering those sensors. I wonder if it became its own weird night game for the little guy.

Ha! That ferret was definitely playing a game.
