Rant: the guy in Toledo who told me to stop zip tying cans to the joists
About 2 years ago I was roughing in a 32 zone panel in a ranch house outside Toledo and zip tying every can to the joists like I always did. The old timer helper looked up and said "those ties are gonna cut into the wires when the can heats up, use the bracket screw and a strap." I blew him off at the time, but 6 months later I pulled one of my own cans down and the jacket was pinched right where the tie was.
Now I use the strap and screw on every single can and I have not had one call back about a shorted zone since. Anyone else got an old timer line like that they ignored for too long?
