Had a weird signal drop on a Vista 20P install last week and tried something dumb
The keypad in the master bedroom kept losing its link to the main panel, even after I swapped the wire and checked all my connections. On a hunch, I moved the keypad about six inches away from the metal door frame it was mounted next to... and the signal cleared right up. I guess the frame was acting like a big shield. Has anyone else run into interference from building materials like that?

Always figured metal studs were the main issue, but door frames can totally mess with signals too. Your fix proves how much placement really matters.

Honestly I've never had door frames cause real problems in my place. The metal studs are way worse because they're everywhere in the walls. I just think the studs are the bigger thing to deal with.

My last apartment had both metal studs and a door frame that killed the signal, felt like living in a faraday cage. Grace607 is right about placement, my router ended up in the weirdest spot just to get a bar in the bathroom. The whole thing made me realize my home network is held together by hope and one decent cable. I'm basically one slammed door away from returning to the dial-up era.
