Finally got the 2am false alarm call in Maple Grove to stop after 3 trips
3 weeks ago I picked up a job in Maple Grove where the bedroom motion kept tripping at 2am and the guy was ready to rip the whole panel off the wall. Turned out a ceiling fan on the other side of the wall was vibrating just enough to shake the sensor bracket loose, so I pulled the old drywall anchors and set it with toggles plus a rubber grommet and he hasnt had a false trip in 18 days. What do you all use to kill vibration on motions that share a wall with a spinning fan?
The ceiling fan thing makes sense but Im curious about the toggle setup, did you use the plastic zip toggles or the metal snap ones? I had a similar call in Plymouth where the motion was on a wall shared with a garage door opener and toggles alone didnt cut it, ended up adding a small piece of foam tape behind the bracket too. Did you check if the fan itself was balanced or just fix the sensor side?
