PSA: Fingerprint scanners on the tool crib turned our shop into a hand-washing contest

Our shop upgraded to fingerprint scanners for checking out tools last month, meant to cut down on lost gear. Well, yesterday I was working on a Piper's flap mechanism and needed a specific wrench. I had a tiny bit of oil on my finger from the job, and the scanner just kept beeping no. After cleaning my hands twice with a rag, it finally worked, but my buddy Mike had already taken the wrench. He said the machine is like a mom checking for dirty hands before dinner. Now half the crew carries those little alcohol wipes in their pockets just to pass the scan. It's a weird shift from just signing your name on a clipboard. Honestly, it's kinda funny how a high-tech fix added a whole new silly step to our day.

Haha, @alice269 is right, it's like a tech mom! Our time clock scanner hates my oily fingers too.

Oh great, so now your tool crib is run by the world's strictest hall monitor. Guess technology just reinvented the soap nag.
