My $20 'air fryer pizza' gadget was a total kitchen fail

I saw this little metal rack online that promised to make perfect personal pizzas in the air fryer (it looked like a tiny cooling rack with a handle). It arrived last Tuesday and I was so excited to try it. I made a small pizza, put it on the rack, and the cheese just melted right through the gaps and made a huge, smoky mess in the bottom of my fryer. Has anyone found a good way to make pizza in these things without it turning into a disaster?

Ugh, did you try putting a piece of foil or parchment paper under the rack first? I mean, I had the same exact thing happen with a different gadget, one of those little trays for making egg bites. The batter just dripped right through and I spent an hour cleaning burnt gunk off the heating element. Maybe it's just me but I've given up on any of those extra air fryer inserts now, they seem like more trouble than they're worth.

Yeah, that ceramic plate trick sounds way smarter...

Honestly, my buddy had the same meltdown with one of those racks. He tried making a little pepperoni pizza and the whole thing just fell apart, cheese and sauce dripping straight down. It smoked up his kitchen so bad his fire alarm went off. He ended up just using a small, flat ceramic plate that fits in his fryer basket instead. Works way better and nothing falls through.
