Warning: I used to think AI writing tools were just fancy autocorrect
I was totally against them for my blog, thinking they'd sound robotic. Then a friend made me try one for a product description I was stuck on, and it gave me a perfect first draft in about 30 seconds. It didn't write the whole thing for me, but it got me past the blank page, which was the real problem. Has anyone else had a specific task where an AI tool actually surprised you like that?

Yeah, that "got me past the blank page" part is exactly it. I was trying to write a simple "how-to" guide for a hobby project and just couldn't start. I gave an AI the bullet points of my steps, and it spit out a clear, step-by-step intro paragraph. It was basic, but it gave me the structure to just start editing instead of staring.

It's a solid trick, @hayden144, like using a level to draw your first straight line.

Honestly though, that "clear, step-by-step intro paragraph" from an AI is where you lose your own voice right from the start. Tbh, wrestling with the blank page is part of the work. If you skip that struggle, you just get generic instructions anyone could write. I'd rather stare at the page for an hour and get one real sentence down.
