That $40 pour-over kettle I bought after watching one video

I saw a guy on YouTube make coffee look like a religious experience, so I ordered this fancy swan neck kettle online. It took two weeks to arrive and the thermometer on it was off by about 15 degrees. I burned two bags of beans before I figured out it was the kettle, not my technique. I ended up using my old stovetop pot from the camping section again. Anyone else get sucked into buying gear that just makes things harder? I could use a recommendation for a kettle that actually reads the right temp, if that exists.

That thermometer being off by 15 degrees is wild, but honestly it just sounds like the YouTube guy made the whole thing look way simpler than it actually is... maybe the old stovetop pot was the real upgrade all along.
