I just learned the average coffee drinker spends $1,100 a year and it hit me weird

I was looking at some random stat site while waiting for my pour over to finish, not even coffee related, just browsing. It said the average person who buys coffee out spends about $1,100 a year. I sat there doing the math on my $5.75 daily habit from the shop down the street in Austin. That's over $2,000 for me. I've been making coffee at home for years but still grab one on the way to work most days. It never felt like that much, just a small treat. But seeing the yearly number made me pause. I'm not saying I'll stop, the ritual of walking over and chatting with the barista is part of my morning. Has anyone else done this math and actually changed their behavior, or did you just shrug and keep ordering?

Damn, $2,000 a year just for morning coffee feels like a second car payment I never signed up for.
