Debate: Cold brew concentrate vs Japanese iced coffee - which gives better results for iced drinks?

I spent one week last month doing side by side tests with both methods. The cold brew took 18 hours and gave me a smooth, low acid concentrate that stayed good for 5 days. Japanese iced coffee took just 5 minutes of brewing time but I had to drink it same day or the flavor went flat. The cold brew definitely wins on convenience but I felt the Japanese method had more complex flavors and brighter notes. Which one do you guys think makes a better iced coffee for hot summer afternoons? Has anyone else tested both and noticed a clear winner for their setup?

Tried a 24 hour cold brew once and it tasted like dirt mixed with sadness so I stick to Japanese now.

Used to be a hardcore cold brew fan, thought Japanese iced was just a gimmick. But then I tried both side by side last summer with a light roast Ethiopian. Your test lines up with what I found. The cold brew was smooth but kind of flat, like it lost all the fun berry notes. Japanese iced coffee had way more of that bright, fruity kick and felt cleaner on my tongue. I still make cold brew when I need a big batch for the week, but for a single afternoon cup, Japanese iced is the better choice hands down. It just tastes more like the actual coffee, not just a milder version of it.
