My local radio spot just hit 15% brand recall in a survey and I'm shocked
We ran a simple ad on our town's classic rock station for a small hardware store client, just a 30 second spot about weekend projects. The agency's post campaign survey showed 15% of listeners could name the store without a prompt. That's huge for a single market buy with no big budget. I thought radio was dead for local retail but maybe we just forgot how to write for it. Has anyone else seen a surprise win with an old school medium lately?

Radio's not dead, you just need to write for the ear. People are listening in their cars and workshops, not staring at a screen. A good script that paints a picture still works.

Heard about a buddy whose bakery did a small ad in the local paper's community calendar. Just a tiny box with their pie special. They had people coming in all week asking for it by name, which never happened with their online ads. Makes you wonder if the old stuff just cuts through the noise better now.

Local papers still hit a different crowd. We run a small print ad every month and it always brings in the most loyal customers.
