Heard a guy at Starbucks say ads are just noise now

I was waiting for my drink last Tuesday and this dude next to me was on the phone saying most people tune out ads before they even register them. He said something like 'we're all trained to ignore banners and pre-rolls by age 12.' It hit me that maybe the old interruption model is dead and we need to focus on stuff people actually want to see. Anyone else feel like we're just shouting into a void with display ads these days?

totally. the 'trained to ignore by 12' thing is so true. my brain autofilters banners now.

lol yeah, I had a friend who drove past the same "Grand Opening" sign for like 3 years before she actually tried the place and realized it had been closed for 2.

And isn't it funny how our brains do the same thing with all those annoying roadside billboards we drive past every day.
