Blew a bead on my bumper weld and now I am scared to trust it on the trail
I welded up a plate bumper for my 99 Tacoma about a year ago and finally got it mounted on a trip to Bear Lake in Idaho. Last week I noticed a hairline crack right along the frame side weld, about 3 inches long. I used a 110 flux core welder on 3/16 plate and I think I just did not get enough heat into it. Should I grind it out and redo it, or is that asking for trouble on a bumper that takes winch loads?
