Blew $340 on a rooftop tent for my Tacoma and slept in it twice before I sold it
I want to save somebody else the money I lost. Back in March I bought a used hardshell rooftop tent off a guy in Flagstaff for $340. It looked great in his driveway. I mounted it on my bed rack and took it to Sedona that first weekend, and the thing was a pain. Every time I wanted to sleep I had to climb a ladder in the dark, and the mattress inside was about as thick as a yoga mat. My back hurt for three days after. Then I took it out once more to the Mogollon Rim in April and the wind kept me up all night because the shell rattles. I pulled it off in June and sold it for $200 to a guy in Phoenix, so I ate $140 plus the $60 in gas for those trips. Now I just sleep in the back with a $40 foam pad from Walmart and it works better. What did you all waste cash on before you figured out your real setup?
