Why does nobody talk about the mental focus needed for laser-guided pipe alignment?
I was setting up for a long section yesterday and kept getting minor deviations, even with the laser calibrated. It dawned on me that after a few hours, my eyes were straining and I was second-guessing the readings. Maybe it's just me, but idk, I think there's a knack to maintaining concentration during those repetitive checks. How do you guys handle staying sharp on detailed alignment work over a full shift?

Seriously? I couldn't disagree more. It's not about forced concentration or tricks, it's about letting the process become background noise. You stop looking at the laser and start feeling the alignment in your hands after the hundredth check. The strain means you're fighting it, trying to brute-force your eyes to work instead of letting your body take over from muscle memory. That hyper-focus everyone talks about is the problem, not the solution. You find a rhythm where the check is just another breath, not a mental event. Ever notice the old timers make it look effortless?
