I thought trail ratings were pointless until I tried the Black Bear Loop

Always ignored the difficulty signs on trailheads. Hiked Black Bear last month and it kicked my butt. The steep sections and loose rocks made me respect those ratings. Now I check them before every hike.

Yeah, "kicked my butt" is right. I had to learn the same lesson the hard way (my trail rating hubris did not end well).
